Pete the Cat
We have been reading Pete the Cat this week in class. The students love this book and can listen to the story in cd. Last year our class received a grant from DonorsChoose which allowed us to purchase a CD player, stand, and wireless headphones. Students read and listen to stories during morning choices.

Have You Filled Your Bucket Today?
Last week our principal, Mrs. O'Sullivan visited our class. She read us Have You Filled Your Bucket Today? The story encourages students to treat each other with respect and consideration and to avoid bully-like behavior. As a class we brainstormed and discussed ways to be a "bucket filler" and what it means to be a "bucket dipper". Bucket filling makes people feel good!

No David!
This year has gotten off to a great start! I have a fabulous class full of very bright and eager learners. Last week we read David Goes to School by David Shannon. The students reviewed appropriate behavior for school and enjoyed creating their own "David" masks. In addition, they learned how to work independently in centers, write in their journals, took a Brown Bear Tour of the school and started Reader's Workshop. Whew! It's going to be a busy year!

Life Cycles
Spring has sprung and we have caterpillars in our class! Our students are learning about life cycles and what better way than with butterflies!
Back to School...again!
It has been great being back to school after having my baby boy. I don't think I could have picked a crazier time to return to school. I must have blindly chose the week we had report cards, conferences, Distinguished School visit, field trip, and my husband out of town. But I survived like I always do! I must say it makes it easier when you have supportive parents in your class volunteering their time, great students and good friends. Also, thank you to Ms. Buller who was a terrific substitute teacher!
